Project
Wings
The largest recycling village in the world
It all began with one goal: to build the largest recycling village in the world. In the meantime, we have created a holistic project that combines humanitarian aid with nature and animal protection.

FIND A WAY,
NOT AN EXCUSE.
With this in mind, four young people have started a project that combines humanitarian aid with nature and animal protection. Several hundred tons of collected plastic waste form the foundation for the world’s largest recycling village.
The project is now an entire system that helps people, nature and animals.
We make environmental protection socially acceptable

Why avoid plastic?
The issue of plastic waste is growing every day. Many people are familiar with the plastic problem. You don’t have to be an “eco” for that. Plastic waste in the sea in particular is damaging important habitats. But how does he get there?
We use a lot of plastic in our everyday lives. As packaging for food or as material for a toy. If disposed of correctly, the plastic waste ends up in the German recycling system. Here, some types of plastic are fed back into the recycling loop. This is called recycling. And why do people talk about “evil plastic” at all? Or the destruction of animal species?
Quite simply. When plastic enters the environment, the sun and rain break it down. So plastic never disappears. It only becomes micro-small. The same applies to plastic in the sea. In the long term, small and large pieces of plastic destroy the habitat of millions of creatures. Humans are not unaffected either. Humans consume around five grams of microplastics per week. This happens through the intake of food and environmental influences.
That’s why Project Wings collects the plastic waste that is already in nature. This prevents it from entering the rivers and ultimately the sea. With the help of a bottle and a stick, the building block of the recycling village is created: the Ecobrick.
What aid organizations are there?
There are 23,000 aid organizations and foundations in Germany alone (as of 2020, source Statista). They are all fighting different causes to make the world a better place. This ranges from humanitarian aid to nature conservation and animal welfare. Organizations such as the WWF and Greenpeace focus on nature and animal protection. PETA saves animals and UNICEF helps people in need. And so on.
Project Wings provides holistic environmental protection. Environmental protection involves working with people, nature and animals. All three areas must be brought back into harmony. In this way, we can counteract deforestation and build the largest recycling village in the world. Good for people, good for animals and good for nature.
Which donations are received?
How much of your money ends up in a project depends on the organization. Expenditure on administration and personnel varies greatly. Basically, it can be said that donations always reach the project. If the donations are not used in accordance with the statutes, the aid organization loses its non-profit status. As an organization, you cannot continue to collect donations and implement projects.
But there is a difference in the distribution of money. Aid organizations generally spend between 2 and 45 percent on administration and personnel. However, 100% of our private donations go to the project on site.
You can find more information on the “Transparency” page.
What can an environmental protection organization do?
As an aid organization, Project Wings is quite creative. This has been the only way to achieve steady growth since 2019. Today, they are doing more than just building the world’s largest recycling village. Permaculture, sustainable agriculture, reforestation of tropical rainforests and an entire waste management system are now part of the project. Project Wings is already doing a lot in the tropics. The focus is always on environmental protection.
Project Wings is also breaking new ground in Germany. With the charity online store “Wings Life”, Project Wings sells sustainable products. The winnings will be donated to Project Wings. You can even drink to a better world with Wings Water! Here, too, the profit goes to the environmental protection organization. And thanks to the Wings Coin, traveling becomes sustainable! Here, guests in hotels can cancel their room cleaning and thus make a contribution to the environment. What’s more, there’s a free drink on top for every order canceled!
Anyone who starts a social initiative knows the difficulties they will face. Project Wings founded the Wings Experience for this purpose. Here, other aid organizations receive “aid organization” coaching.
The patrons and the patrons
To bring the vision of a healthy planet to the world, you need support. Patrons for environmental protection. We welcome Lilli Hollunder, René Adler, Culcha Candela, Mavie Noelle and Jonathan Elias Weiske as part of the Wings Family. They are our patrons for environmental protection and are committed to a green future!
We attach great importance to transparency! You can take a look behind the scenes with us. You can volunteer in Sumatra or do an internship with the environmental protection organization in Germany. Get in touch with us!
Why (environmental) education is important
Environmental education with children and young people is an important step towards a sustainable future. Here, children are taught about challenges and solutions in a playful way. Issues such as the deforestation of the tropical rainforest naturally play an important role here. Clearly explained, children understand the interrelationships in our ecosystem. Environmental education helps them to experience their self-efficacy.
This is why the Project Wings team regularly visits educational institutions. Here they organize environmental protection project days with groups and entire school classes. Project Wings also organizes project weeks on the subject of environmental education for school festivals and the like.
